Day Charter Maldives offers private day charters aboard a Saxdor 400 GTC — a 12.5-metre Scandinavian-designed sports yacht carrying up to 12 guests at up to 40 knots, with an enclosed air-conditioned cabin, bow sunpads and a wide swim platform. It departs Hulhumalé, 10 minutes from Malé airport.

Whale sharks are wild animals and sightings are never guaranteed — no ethical operator should promise otherwise. South Ari Atoll hosts the highest year-round concentration of whale sharks in the Maldives, and our sighting success rate is very high. If we don't locate them: we don't cut the day short. We pivot to an alternative encounter — a pristine reef, manta cleaning station or sandbank — and we're transparent about conditions from the moment we assess them. You'll know what we know, when we know it.

On the Saxdor 400 GTC, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours each way at cruising speed, depending on sea conditions. A typical 12-knot excursion boat needs 4 hours or more each way from Malé, so a fast private charter gives you several extra hours in the water.
No ethical operator guarantees sightings of wild animals. South Ari Atoll has the highest year-round whale shark concentration in the Maldives. If we don't find them, we pivot to an alternative encounter and never cut the day short.
Whale sharks are resident year-round in South Ari Atoll, making sightings possible in any month. December to May offers the calmest conditions and best underwater visibility. June to November is the manta season.
A private charter means you control the timing and approach — no queue, no 30 guests entering at once, and the flexibility to follow a shark if it moves. Group tours are cheaper per person but dramatically limit your water time and wildlife interaction quality.
You need to be comfortable snorkelling in open water with some current. Life jackets are available and the guide stays with the group. Let us know your experience level on booking and we'll pair you with the right trip format.
Morning seas are calmer, visibility is typically at its best, and whale sharks are most active near the surface in early hours. An early departure also maximises your time in the water before midday heat.
