The evening unfolds in two movements.
Act 1 — Golden Hour
From around 17:00 the light softens. The captain positions the yacht in the spinner dolphin channels — pods of 50 to 200 frequently appear, riding the bow wave and leaping beside the hull. Drinks on deck. The sun drops into the Indian Ocean directly ahead.
Act 2 — The Southern Sky
Engines off. Lights off. The Milky Way appears directly overhead. Scorpius, the Southern Cross and the Magellanic Clouds are visible on clear new-moon nights. Lie on the bow sunpads, drift on still water. No sound except the ocean.

Sunset over the Indian Ocean from the Saxdor 400 GTC is magical year-round. The sun sets between approximately 17:50 and 18:15 throughout the year — we time departure accordingly. New-moon nights in June to September give the darkest skies for stargazing.
Bioluminescence in the Maldives is unpredictable — it depends on plankton blooms and lunar conditions. Most common during warmer months in sheltered lagoons. We'll give you an honest assessment of current conditions for your specific date.
Typically a 17:00 pickup to catch golden hour from the water. Exact timing shifts by a few minutes depending on the season's sunset time — we confirm when booking.
The Maldives is warm year-round — evenings are comfortable in light clothing. A light layer is pleasant for the stargazing portion. The enclosed A/C cabin is there if anyone gets cool, and we don't force anyone to be outdoors.
