Our fishing rules: protected species (Napoleon wrasse, whale sharks, reef manta rays, dolphins, turtles) are never targeted and released immediately if accidentally hooked. We respect no-take zones and marine-protected areas. Reef netting is not permitted aboard. We fish responsibly — this is a Maldivian ocean and we want it healthy for generations.

Day Charter Maldives offers private day charters aboard a Saxdor 400 GTC — a 12.5-metre Scandinavian-designed sports yacht carrying up to 12 guests at up to 40 knots, with an enclosed air-conditioned cabin, bow sunpads and a wide swim platform. It departs Hulhumalé, 10 minutes from Malé airport.
From the water to the barbecue.
If you catch something edible (grouper, snapper, trevally), we can arrange a barbecue on a private beach or sandbank — grilled with lime, chilli and local spices. One of the most satisfying meals you'll have in the Maldives. Ask us when booking and we'll include the cook and setup in your quote.

Reef species year-round: grouper, snapper and jobfish are the most common. Giant trevally in season (November–April). For open-ocean big game — yellowfin tuna, wahoo and sailfish — a full-day trolling trip is needed, ideally December to March.
Yes — if the catch is a suitable edible species and conditions allow, we arrange a beach barbecue as part of the trip. The cook, charcoal, spices and setup are all included. Ask when booking.
Yes — hand lines, rods, reels, lures and bait for the trip type you choose are all on board. If you have your own gear or specific lures you prefer, bring them.
Absolutely. Hand-line sunset fishing is perfect for beginners and children — simple, exciting and with a good chance of a catch. Big-game trolling is less suitable for very young children due to the full-day duration and open-ocean conditions.
December to March is the prime window for yellowfin tuna and sailfish in Maldivian waters. Giant trevally are most active November to April. Reef species are consistent year-round.
No individual licence is required for recreational fishing from a private charter in the Maldives. Your charter licence covers the trip.
